EPISODE IN THEATRE.
CONGREGATION DISTURBED. LABOURER TO PAY COSTS. A young labourer, Emanuel De Senna, •was brought to the Police Court on summons this morning, charged with disturbing a congregation assembled for a religious service at the Strand Theatre on Sunday, March 30. He denied the charge. Evidence was given by an usher cmpier -d by the Methodist Mission that De Senna was talking loudly. Witness asked him to stop, but he persisted, so a constable ad to be called* De Senna's explanation was that another man asked hir-i a question, and he merely answered it. He denied that he spoke loudly. The usher then went out and brought in a constable. Defendant called a young man, who said in evidence that it was another man, and not De Senna, who was talking in a loud voice. Mr. Hunt ordered defendant to pay the costs, 13/.
