The subject of street collections was introduced at a meeting of the Onehunga Borough Council last night by the Mayor, Mr. Morton, who drew attention to the inconvenience caused, and suggested that-instead of these the council increase its unauthorised expenditure by sufficient to contribute towards the Plunket Society and the Hospital Auxiliary. It was decided to place the sums of £35 and £30 on this year's estimates as donations towards. the Plunket Society and the Hospital Auxiliary, respectively, provided that they do not take up a street collection 'at Onehunga.^ The sum of £5 was donated to the Plunket Society to augment the recent collection.
