WELLINGTON'S WIN.
RECOGNITION TO LOWRY. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") . WELLINGTON, this day. 1 The management committee of the Wellington Cricket Association has decided to have a cartoon which appeared in the "Dom miorf'" depicting "Lowry. MeOirr arid McLeod as huge rocks on the pitch at the Basin Reserve in the Piunket, Shield match .enlarged, mounted and suitably inscribed.:and to present a copy each to Lowry. McGirr and McLeod. This announcement- was made at last evening's meeting by the chairman (Mr. Broad) ,• who said the committee thought it was only fitting the players mentioned should receive some lasting memento of the part they had played in a memorable match.
"I consider wc should even go further than this, and send a letter to Lowrv voicing the association's, appreciation of the very valuable servves he has rendered, not only to Wellington cricket th ; s season, but to the game in the Dominion. Wc all know that the farmers' busiest time is round about the Christmas- season, and yet the Wellington, and Xew Zealand captain did not hesitate to assist Wellington and Nov# Zealand in the games arrelnst th" Ml. < . at this period. We apnreciate t.ie seiisacrifice he has made for the game this season, and the least we can do is to let him know we are not unmindful of them," stated Mr. Broad. The motion to forward a letter of thanks to Lowry was carried unanimouslv.
On the suggestion of Mr. J. Rc>d. it was a creed also to have a ropy of the "Dominion" cartoon mounted and hung in the association's room.
