SLOGAN FOR DEVONPORT.
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
The competition conducted by tlie Waitemata Chamber of Commerce for the purpose of selecting a slogan for Devonport was decided at the meeting of the chamber last evening, the chairman, Sir. S. E. Kennings, presiding. Tlia choice was made in favour of the amended slogan, "Devonport be thorough, shop in the borough," which, in the original form, "Shoreites be thorough, shop in the borough," was submitted by the Devonport Public Library, to which the prize of £5 will be presented by the Mayor of Devonport at the earliest opportunity. The slogan selected for second place was "Pull for the Shore," tho effort of Mr. L. Mence, Clarence Street, Devonport. An offer of co-operation was made by the Devonport Borough Council m endeavouring to secure a?; improved passenger ferry service during rush-hours, and the provision of an all-night vehicular service. An invitation of the council to appoint a committee to place the chamber's views on the matter before it was accepted.
