MORE TOURISTS.

VISITORS FROM ABROAD. ACTIVITIES OF DEPARTMENT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. While he had no definite figures in regard to tourist traffic from abroad, said the Hon. de la Perrelle, Minister in charge of Tourist Resorts, to a reporter to-day, there was sufficient information to show that it was considerably better than this time last year. This he attributed to the increased activities of the Tourist Department in its endeavour to make the attractions of the Dominion more widely realised in the other parts of the world. More New Zealanders appeared to be travelling in the thermal district, the Minister said, than was usually the case. He bad received advice that Australians who 'had made recent visits by the Melbourne steamer to the southern sounds were very enthusiastic about the scenery at Milford and in the other fiords visited.
