TREAT FOR CHILDREN.
PARTY AT TRAINING COLLEGE. A delightful party was provided* by students of the Auckland Training College yesterday afternoon for over 100 children, who are less likely than other children to be showered with good things at Christmas time. The children were conveyed in private motor cars to the college grounds, from homes recommended by leading social workers, and on arrival they were greeted by the principal, Mr. D. M. Rae, members of the staff and the general body of students. With the buildings decorated and a general air of festivity the young visitors were made to feel thoroughly at their ease, and not the least joyprovoking event was the distribution of presents from a Christmas tree in the lower hall. Mr. J. W. Shaw, lecturer in English, filled the role of Father Chriet-. mas with realistic effect. Folk dances on the lawn were given by students from the Normal School, and an exhibition of eurhythmies was provided by girl students of the college under the direction of Miss Beryl Whistler, Before dispersing the children were entertained to refreshments in the tearoom.
