EXPORT BARRED.

Australian Sheep For Russia. TAKEN OFF SHIP. SYDNEY, November 27. The Norwegian motor ship Thalatta was to have left Sydney to-morrow with a consignment of 5000 rams and ewes for Russia. The purchase was made on behalf of the Soviet Government.

However, the Federal Ministry caused a sensation to-day by issuing a proclamation prohibiting the exportation of these particular sheep. Nearly all of them had been taken on board the Thalatta.

In the Federal House of Representatives to-day the Minister of Customs announced that since 1919 the stud sheep exported from Australia numbered 22,511, valued at £389,000. South Africa took 11,165 sheep valued at £287,000; New Zealand took 4503 valued at £44,000, and Japan and Russia took the remainder.
