MAYOR GOES SOUTH.

MEETINGS AT WELLINGTON. REMITS FOR CONFERENCE. On Tuesday evening next the Mayor, Mr. George Baildon, will go to Wellington for the purpose of attending two meetings on Wednesday, that of the Municipal Association executive in the forenoon and in the afternoon the meeting of the British Empire Cancer Research Society.

At the former meeting consideration will be given to remits for the next conference of municipal bodies, which is to be held at Invercargill in March.

The Mayor will leave Wellington on Wednesday evening in order to be back in Auckland for the meeting of the City Council on Thursday evening. This will be the last but one meeting in the calendar year. As the next meeting would fall on Christmas Eve it is the intention of the Mayor to suggest to the council that a final meeting for the clearing up of general business be held on the evening of Thursday, December 19.
