ST. GEORGE'S CLUB.

The.' St. George's Rowing Club experienced a busy time during the weekend, racing a s,aet of trial four oars for Walker and Hall's trophies, and reaching, the final of the Thomas pair oas. In the lastnamed contest it was decided to row over the long harbour course outside the roadway, but one crew, in going under the bridge, collided with a post and damaged a rigger.- This necessitated the event being postponed until one evening during the week. Results :— First Heat.—Three crews competed in the first heat, namely, C. D'Authreau, T. Lambert, R. Randall and C. Clarke; H. 'Tong, W. Carr, D. McGregor and V. Dunne; G. Fogerty, I. Duncan, E. Auger and J. Biss. In a good finish D'Authreau'* crew won by a length from Fogerty, wifii Tong half a length away third. Second heat. —The crews were: V. Hargreaves. S. Bishop, B. Wood and G. Biss: H. .Tackson, .7. Coote, C. Kellaway, and T. M. V. Morton." Hargreaves won by a length. ' . Final. —The crews of D'Authreau and Hargreaves met in the final. Going off to a fine start, the* crews raced the first quarter on even terms. D'Authreau then took the lead, but was quickly displaced. Then started a battle royal, first one and tlier the other getting, in front. Hargreaves' crew, lasted the better ,and in the last hundred yards took the lead and won a great race by half a length. THOMAS PAIR OARS. The annual race for the Thomas pair oars attracted eight crews, who met on the Hobson Bay course with splendid water conditions. The racing was brimful of interest. Two races resulted in a dead-heat, and the other finishes were close. The results were: — .T. Coote and F. Colebrooke beat I. Duncan and C. Kelleway by three-quarters oi a length, after a dead-lieat in the firs; meeting. H. Jackson and T. Lambert beat F. Solo mon and G. Biss by just over a length. W. Bright and J. Biss dead-lieated with S. Hislop and E. Anger. The first named pair w'on by half a length in the re-row. C. D'Authreau and T. M. Y. Morton beai W. Carr and N. Ganley, by a length. Semi-finals.— : H. .Tackson and T. Lambei" beat T. Coote and F. Colebrooke by ; length. W. Bright and .T. Biss beat 0 D'Authreau and T. M. V. Morton by ; length and a half.
