EDENDALE GIRL GUIDES.
The Arohanui, Ist Edendale Company of Girl Guides and Brownies, celebrated their first birthday. Eleven guides received service stars, and several secondclass and proficiency badges were presented. The £ea was provided by the committee, the tables being beautifully decorated with flowers. On the guide and brownie tables were two huge cakes, presented by the president,' Mrs. Hutchinson, which were afterwards cut by the captain and brown owl. Toasts were proposed to His Majesty the King and to captain and lieutenant, and cheers were given for the visitors and committee. The evening programme was carried out in the hall, upstairs, which was decorated in the company colours, purple and silver. The evening was spent in games, competitions and musical items. Besides the guides, brownies and committee, there were present, the District Commissioner, Miss Knight, Bev. and Mrs. Gilmour, Mr. Carry, Mr. Semadeni, patrol leaders and guiders from the other companies in the Eden district, and parents and friends of the guides.
