The Henderson branch of the Women's '■ Christian Temperance Union held its annual meeting in the Presbyterian Church yesterday, the president, Mrs. F. G. Piatt, presiding. Essays had been received from school children competing in the annual temperance essay competition, a judge had been appointed, and a social arranged at which the prizes will be presented. Mrs. Cook, Dominion superintendent of the Bible-in-Schools League gave a short address on the value of the Bible in the education of children. She paid a high tribute to the teachers of New Zealand, expressing the opinion that they were a fine body of people, and most of them would welcome the introduction of religious instruction into the schools. »The following officers weretelected: —President, Mrs. F. G. Piatt; vice-presidents, Mrs. C. E. Perkins and Miss Duncan; secretary, Mrs. T. McKay; treasurer, Mrs. W. G. Williams; cradle roll superintendent, Mrs. Elcoat; white ribbon agent, Miss K. Duncan.
