BRITISH CROWN SUED.
£44,000,000 CLAIM. LONDON, October 25. Next month the High Court will hear the claims for £44,000,000 brought against the Crown by the Civilian War Claimants' Association, and based on Article 232 of the Versailles Treaty under which Germany undertakes to compensate for damage to the civilian population and property. The Government contends that the compensation received from Germany was a, benefit to the community and was not intended to be paid out to individuals. The claimants number 06,000.
