ALBION V. WAIUKU.
A most enjoyable match was played at Waiuku on Labour Day between the Albion (Suburban. Association) and Waiuku dubs, the latter being short of several of its best players. The city men, batting first, compiled 240 runs in two hours and a half, in a bright exhibition, there being no less than nine sixes hit off the country team's bowling. Gedye, who bore a charmed life, was top scorer for the city team, with 74, scored in 30 minutes, including five sixes. Waiuku responded with 155, Sampson topscoring with a splendidly compiled 55. The following are the details: —
Albion, 240 (Gedye 74, Mincham SO, Barnes 24,' Houston 20. Masters 20, Withers 19, Stallworthy 10, Young 21 not out. Bowling for-Waiuku, Duthie took three wickets, Sampson three, Jerohm two, Southgate one, Cameron one. . .
Waiuku, 155 (Sampson 55. Jerohm 18, South gate 18, Morris 15, Hodgkinson 14). Bowling for Albion, Barnes took three wickets, Stallworthy three, Gedye one, "Wright one, Young one, Mincham one.
