FRANKTON STOCK SALE.
BEEF STILL DEAR. PORKERS AGAIN ADVANCE. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd. Hamilton, report having held their usual weekly stock sale at Frankton saleyards on Tuesday, October 29, as under:— There was an average yarding of beef. Prices were on a par with last week's rates. Choice quality light bullocks sold at up to £15 7/6, or equal to 40/ per hundred. Prime young cows and heifers sold at up to '£11 3/. Average quality cows £8 10/ to £10. Light fat cows and heifers, £4 15/ to £6 15/. Heavy runners made £6 12/6, £6, £5 2/6 and £3 18/. Vealers, £2 10/, £1 7/. There was a large yarding of store cattle which met with good competition. We sold fresh three-year Holstein steers up to £10 7/6. Two-year Hereford steers, £8 15/. Two-year Holstein steers, £8 17/6. In conjunction with the Farmers' Auctioneering Company 100 Polled Angus yearling steers, £7 7/6; 14 ditto, £5 17/6; 11 Hereford yearling steers, £6 16/. Other cattle at late rates. There was a small yarding of sheep. Prime shorn wethers made up to 28/3; light ditto, 26/7; woolly fat ewes, 27/; woolly fat hoggets, 26/; store hoggets, 24/6. There was a medium yarding of fat and store pigs, with advance price for porkers. Prime heavy baconers made from £4 4/ to £4 7/6. Ordinary ditto, £4 to £4 3/. Best porkers, £3 1/ to £3 10/. Large stores, £2 to £2 6/. Slips, 28/ to 37/6. Weaners, 26/ to 30/.
