DEATH OF JAZZ.
SECRET CONCLAVE
Instructors Decide To Return To Tango.
REVIVAL OF OLD FAVOURITES.
(United P.A.—Electric Telegraph-Copyright)
(Received 2.30 p.m.)
LONDON, October 29.
A secret conference of London's leading dance teachers lias given the death blow to jazz. Everywhere there are signs of its growing unpopularity. Jazz instructors are facing the grim truth that dancing is dying. The great Hammersmith Palais de Dancc, "London's ballroom," has closed down and is converted into an ice rink. Restaurants are cutting down dances and substituting cabaret turns. Speakers at the conference declared that the dance hall with the courage to revive the waltz, polka and lanccis would make a fortune. The instructors finally decided to return to the Tango. Special bands are now being engaged for a big Tango drive all over England.
