TRADE IMPROVEMENT.
British Rail-Borne Freight Shows Increase. MORE PASSENGERS ON TRAINS. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, October IC. Signs of trade improvement in recent months are given in the freight receipts by the railway companies fdr July. Compared with July, 1928, there was an increase of about 3,700,000 tons or 15.3 per cent in rail-borne freight. Of this tonnage coal and coke accounted for 2,700,000 tons, representing an increase of 19.1 per cent. The passenger traffic for July also showed a large increase. The number of passenger journeys totalled 114,000,000, which is 7,000,000 more than in July last year. The return also ehows that in July last more than 34,000 new motor vehicles were registered in Britain. This is an increase of 5000 on July, 1928.
