LOCAL BODIES.
ONE TREE HILL ROAD BOARD. The One Tree Hill Road Board met last evening, the chairman, Mr. J. S. Haixhvicke, presiding. A ratepayer complained about the nuisance caused by smoke from a dairy factory in the vicinity of Heald Road. The board resolved to inform the complainant that the matter was outeide its jurisdiction, therefore no action could be taken. "The least said about the matter the better/ , said Mr. R. G. Clark, when the report of the delegates who attended the recent conference on flat rate tram fares was. received. Advice that.the fire insurance tariff throughout the district had been considerably reduced was received from the Underwriters' Association. Alterations which the board has been instrumental in obtaining will result in considerable saving to ratepayers. The buiJding inspector.reported -that the total number, of building termite for the year to date was 20S, of a total value of £SB,IBO. Since the last meeting building permits of a total value of £4173 had been issued.
