SERIES OF ACCIDENTS.
WOMAN'S SKULL FRACTURED. CONDITION VERY SERIOUS. ANZAC AVENUE COLLISION. Miss Muriel Veronica Melody, aged 23, of 1, Westminster Road, Mount Eden, received a fractured skull as the result of being knocked down by a motor car at the Dominion Road tram terminus about 6.15 last evening. She was taken to the hospital, where her condition today is reported to be very serious. She was unconscious when she was admitted, and has not as yet regained consciousness. An operation was performed early this morning, but it is too early to say whether it was successful.
Miss Melody had alighted from a tram and as she was crossing to the footpath was struck by a motor car which was going towards Mount Roskill. From her position it appeared that 3he had been thrown from the front of the car and had struck her head against the rear mudguard. She was taken straight to the hospital by the St. John Ambulance.
