ELLERSLIE TRAINING NOTES.
THIS MORNING'S WORK. The weather was beautiful this morning for training work at Ellerslie. All the fast work was done on the No. 2 track, which was in good order, although a little on the dead side after the recent rain. No. 2 Grass.
King Emerald was the first to work and ran a circuit in 2.5 3-5, without being unduly hurried. Good Idea ran home from the fivefurlong post in 1.9 3-5. Kawainga and War Officer completed a six-furlong task in 1.25. There was little between them at the finish. Brampton and Patutahi were not doing their best to run five furlongs in 1.10 4-5. - , .Bizarro strode over a round in 2.0. Gemlight was doing better than Palmares at the end of six furlongs, in 1.22 2-5. Respirator covered a similar distance in 1.25. { Cbrinax was sent over a round. He commenced slowly and ran the last seven furlongs in 1.36. Importer, carrying a light weight, completed a round in 1.48 2-5. He was timed to run the last six furlongs in 1.23 2-5. Taneriri and Manawhenua, who leave to-day for Gisborne, were on terms at the end of four furlongs, in 535. Clarus and Praetor got through a like, task in 52 2-55.. Bennie and Lady's Boy were allotted a round, which they completed in 1.51, Bennie was in front at.the finish. Thunderstorm and Wild Country were together at the end of half a mile, in 52 4-ss. Diamond Queen ran home from the 'three-furlong post in 39s and did it well. Thursby was given an easy six furlongs, taking 1.27. Adjuster, did strong work and ran home over the last half-mile in 57 l-ss. Good Boy covered half a mile in 545. After jumping a couple of hurdles, Master Clements ran six furlongs in 1.22 4-5. Luxurious and Royal Lad were not doing their best to cover six furlongs in 1.27 1-5. Some Lady and Operatic jumped off at the six-furlong post and ran home in 1.20 4-5. Operatic is showing improvement in his work. Measurer completed a half-mile task in' 52 2-ss. Th« Jumpers. Bonnie Day (McGregor) cleared a couple of pony hurdles safely, but did not have much pace on. Mountain Guide (McNeil) I and Automne (H. Jones) were companions over six schooling hurdles and gave a satisfactory display. Mountain Guide made his best showing to date.
