THAMES HOSPITAL BOARD.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
THAMES, this day.
The Thames Hospital Board yesterday received the resignation of Sister Patterton, who has been in charge of the maternity annexe for over 12 months. It was accepted with regret, and the board decided to send her a letter of appreciation of her services. Sister Patterton is going to Dunedin for a refresher course in midwifery. The Waihi Hospital Board notified the reduction in its charges for Thames "urgent cases" to 9/ for adults and 4/6 for children. Owing to unsatisfactory results from the new laundry plant, the board decided to engage the services of Mr. McDonald, engineer, of Devonport, to inspect the plant and report on it. In order to provide more efficient transport for the native nurse, the board decided to contribute £.iO a year towards her motor car expenses. The matter of providing equipment for the Paeroa Hospital was left in the hands of the chairman and secretary. Firms in the board's area will be given the business, other things being equal. Drs. Gray and Liggins agreed to continue to take Dr. Sowerby's place during his illness.
