HALIFAX NAVAL BASE.
Mac Donald To Discuss Question In Canada. OPINION IN OTTAWA. (Australian Press Assn.—United Service.) OTTAWA, October 11. Canadian officials have received with interest an intimation in Washington dispatches that Mr. Mac Donald is to visit Canada to discuss the question of the Government demilitarising the naval base at Halifax. The point is emphasised in, Ottawa that the British Government is without authority. Canada's military and naval activities and all her naval . property, once under British jurisdiction,.have now passed into Canada's hands. Halifax'has. been under.Canada's com-, plete .. control since 1906. Officials decline to discuss the question whether the. demilitarisation of the naval base will constitute a feature of the projected conference in London.
