METHODIST CHURCH.
MORRINSVILLE CIRCUIT. (From Our Own Correspondent.) MORRINSVILLE, Friday. Rev. E. E. Sage presided over a representative gathering of circuit stewards at the quarterly meeting of the Methodist Church. Reference was made to a recent membership reception service at Waitoa, when 22 new members were received. The foreign mission appeal had met with a fine response, and £108 had been subscribed to date. Messrs. G. Hanna, M. Major and G. H. Mundell were received as local preachers on trial. A unanimous invitation was confirmed to the Rev. F. G. Brown, of Matamata, to succeed the Rev. E. E. Sage as superintendent minister next year. Messrs. F. West, G. F. Oakes and G. O. Seaby w r ere appointed as lay representatives to Synod at Cambridge in November, with Messrs. P. Rushton, W. C. Woodley and W. Johnstone as substitutes. Remits to Synod were passed drawing attention to the urgency of tireless activity on the part of the Church for the overthrow.of the organinsed liquor traffic and the fostering of temperance principles.
