TOURING FARMERS' VISIT. VOICES HEARD IN PROTEST. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.)' • ASHBURTON, Friday. A lively discussion took place : at' a meeting, of. the Mid-Canterbury executive of the Farmers' Union over the fact that the Tasmanian farmers are scheduled to spend only Sunday in this district.- It is suggested that the visitors inspect the Government experimental farm in the morning and motor through the county in the afternoon. Objection was raised to Sunday trips, a motion of protest being moved and seconded. Mr. Hammond: You may as well protest against trips to Otira on Sundays. Mr. Evans: No. This is bur business. The Otira trip has nothing to do with us. Mr. H. Brown: You should take this in committee. Eighty per cent of the people of Canterbury do not observe Sunday. Voices: Hardly that. Mr. H. C. B. Wlthell eaid the feelings of the visitors had not been taken into account. Mr. Brown: There is no other place in New Zealand where they would kick up such a fuss. Finally the following motion was carried: —"The executive regrets that the visit of the Tasmanian farmers is limited to Sunday only, and considers the following Monday should have been included in the time allocated for the stay in Ashburton."
