MR. JOHN BALL.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) PAPAROA, this/day. Mr. John Ball, an old settler in the Matakohe district, died on Sunday, aged 66 years, at the residence of his son-in-law, Mr. Howard Smith, Ararua. Born in Auckland, Mr. Ball arrived in the district with his parents in 1875, and had lived there ever since. He was an industrious and successful settler. Owing to failing health in recent years he had spent a considerable time in the South Sea Islands. He married in 1880 Mies Agnes Walker, and the following members of their family survive him: Messrs. Herbert and Arthur Ball, Aliss Elsie Ball, Mesdames Howard, Frank Smith and Guest. One son, Mr. Harry Ball, was killed at the war in 1916.
