■ '1 •• . ' CAR STRIKES SATETT ZONE. INTOXICATED DRIVER FINED. v After his motor car had crashed into a safety zone near the corner of Queen and Victoria Streets at: midnight yesterday, John. Hubert Wilde (28), a motor mechanic, was arrested on a charge of being in a sttae of intoxication while in charge of his car.r,>: " • — ' This morning Wilde admitted , the charge when he appeared before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., at the Police Court; It was stated by Sub-Inspector McCarthy that Wilde's car crashed into the safety zone, and as a result his vehicle was considerably damaged. Wilde was more than intoxicated. He was a single man and had never previously been in trouble.- ; y Wilde was fined £25 and his license to drive was cancelled for 12 months. "You can have seven days to pay, or else •ro up above for two months," Mr. Hunt told accused. >>■ - - .
