SILVER PAPER FOR SYDNEY.

CROWN AREA'S ROSEHILL SUCCESS I (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. W. Stone has returned to Biccarton after spending a brief period in Southland. He lias brought back Silver Paper and his two-year-old half-sister Aspiring, also a couple of yearlings, one a colt by Weathervane from Songbird's sister, The Linnet, and the other a filly by Tea Tray from the Paper Money mare, Victory Bond. The horses will be worked some time, but the present intention is to race Silver Paper in Australia in the spring, while it is possible that some of the members of the team will accompany him to the Cdmmonwealth. The yearlings both have classic engagements at the spring meetings in Australia. ( J. McCombe experienced a bad run with his team in the early stages of ( his Australian trip, but the luck took' a turn on Saturday, when Crown Area won a race at Rosehill. It was not a big event, but now that the Acre gelding has struck form he may go on to further successes of a more important character. NOTES FROM WAIKATO. The reports that the mishap to Pouri was not of a serious nature have been wide of the mark. Pouri's off foreleg is .still very much enlarged, and it will be 1,2 months before he is fit for duty again. Following the Auckland meeting, Whaka King was taken over by the Cambridge trainer, W. J. McLean. The King Lupin —Karitea gelding is to be scheduled over hurdles. Pendennis has not been a sound horse for some time. The Day Comet chestnut was fired recently. Pendavies developed trouble in one of his forelegs when keyed up for racing at the recent Auckland meeting, and he could not be taken north. Veterinary attention was recently called in and the prospects for future racing by the Archiestown jumper have _ been pronounced as far from promising. To Ivoroke is being qualified at the Hunts' in the Waikato. The Humbug Tigritiya gelding is making fair shape. at°the jumping business. Master Roley, who has been following the hounds in the Waikato, has been shaping with a good deal of promise., The Cynic—Miss Roseland gelding is particularly dashing when sent to his fences with the pace right on. As he is onlv a voting horse, Master Roley should" be equal to winning races as a jumper during the new season. Luminary damaged one of his knees when he came down while contesting the Orakei Hurdles on the closing day of the Auckland winter meeting. The damage was not of a serious nature, fortunately, and the Day Comet —Thurnline chestnut has been out following the Hunt. Luminary has been jumping the fences quite well. The chestnut should pay his way as a jumper next season. A TRIP ABANDONED. A short while ago it was the inten- j tion of the Waikato owner-trainer, Mr. R. Hannon, to visit Australia with some of his team, including Roman Abbey and Wedding March. However, owing to Wedding March developing lameiiess, the trip has been abandoned. Roman Abbey will be taken to Wellington for the winter meeting next month. The Day Comet gelding Desert Glow, who has captured £2282 during the present season, is in regular work at Te Awaniutu and, despite his years, looks better'than ever. He is getting J through a steady preparation and will be quite ready to fulfil spring engagements.
