AUSSIE FOR AUSTRALIA.

LEAVES NEXT MOftTE,

ONLY TO RACE IX SYDNEY.

The much-discussed trip to Sydney with Aussie will eventuate next month, Mr. CI. Paul having booked space for two horses on the Ulimaroa, which is due to leave Auckland on July 12.

When discussing the proposed visit to the other side on Saturday Mr. Paul stated that nothing definite had been decided as to which horse —Awarero or Papatu—would accompany Aussie. Recently Awarere injured one of his feet through treading 011 a nail, and this rendered it necessary to put him 011 the easy list. However, it is hoped that the injury will yield sufficiently to treatment during the next few days, so that ho can be put into commission again. So far no rider has been selected to Pilot Aussie in his races in Australia, although his owner was most anxious to secure the services of A. Tinker in preference to any other horseman, but as Tinker has a big team under his charge at To Rapa he informed Sir. Paul he could not possibly make the trip. The Southern horseman, L. G. Morris, who rodo Aussie when lie won the Storey Memorial Handicap at the last Waikato meeting, may possibly be available, although lie could promise nothing definite when spoken to by Mr. Paul some weeks ago. However, Mr. Paul is not concerned as yet regarding a rider, for Fi. S. Bagby, who rode Aussie when he beat Limerick in the Hazlett Oohl Cup at Dunedin is at present lin Sydney, and would most likely accept the mount if his services were required. Aussie is only to race in Sydney, where he will remain till after the Australian Jockey Club's spring meeting. The trip to Brisbane has been definitely cancelled.
