PORTABLE GRANDSTAND.
POSSIBLE RUGBY PURCHASE. TO HELP COUNTRY UNIONS. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON, this day. Rugby in comfort may be provided for the country districts when the British Rugby team visits New Zealand next year. The great problem of the provincial grounds has always been the lack of adequate stand accommodation. Temporary stands are expensive and take time to build. Now the New Zealand Rugby Union is considering a way out. In order to handle the crowds for the British players' tour it is possible that the controlling body will purchase a special stand of steel, made in collapsible parts. It is claimed for the stand that it can be erected in two hours and dismantled in one. Though the purchase will be expensive, it is probable that it will not amount to the total spent on temporary stands and that the extra admission money gained by the sale of reserved seats would probably justify the acquisition of the new steel stand.
