SOUTHLAND FARMERS' VISIT.

MEMBER'S RESIGNATION.

It was announced at yeeterday's meeting of the executive council of the Auckland A. and P. Association that on account of the new membership _ campaign 35 firms and persons had joined the society. Members of the committee expressed gratification at the liret results and it was confidently anticipated that the 2000 mark would be reached. Mr. A. W. Wellsted, business agent for the railways, was in attendance and mentioned that 300 Otago farmers would arrive in Auckland on June 21 and that party would be followed by 300 Southland farmers, who would arrive in time for the opening of the Auckland Winter Exhibition. A committee was appointed to act with Mr. Welleted in making arrangements for the second visitation. Mr. A. D. Bell was nominated as producers' representative for the Auckland sheep district on the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board.

The association's educational proposals in connection with the establishment of agricultural high, schools were considered and approved. It was also decided that the association should seek the support of the various breeders' societies in the formation of calf clubs throughout the Auckland province. Mr. J. P. Kalaugher tendered _ his resignation as a member of the joint committee of the Winter Exhibition. He said he had decided to do this because the cattle section had been cut out. In his opinion the show had been robbed of a valuable educative sectiou. Considerable pressure was brought to bear on Mr. Kalaugher to reconsider his decision, but without result, and hie resignation was accepted with regret.
