DARGAVILLE SCHOOLS.
REQUESTS TO MINISTER.
REFUND OF £350 WANTED.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
DARGAVILLE, this day.
Amongst the requests to be made to the Hon. H. Atmore, Minister of Education, on Monday is one from the Dargavillo School Committee for a refund of £350 which the residents of Dargaville subscribed in 1921 to purchase a site for a technical high school in Valley Road. This site has since been abandoned in favour of a site about a mile away. The Valley Road site has now been selected as the site of the new railway station. The money,, if returned, will be spent on improvements to the present high school grounds. The committee will also ask for a subsidy on this £350 when it is being spent, and for an additional classroom at the Dargaville District High School. This school was opened in December, 1926, and it was enlarged last January, but it is still too small for requirements.
