The urgent need of early commencement of the proposed Paeroa-Pokeno link railway was brought before the notice of the Hon. W. A. Vcith by the Pokeno Chamber of Commerce yesterday. The Minister said that considerable pressure had been brought to bear from the Paeroa end, and he was very favourably impressed with the possibilities of the railway. It was a matter for Cabinet 'to decide. The deputation also urged that the Government should purchase the Bell Estate, of 5600 acres, for close settlement.
