OPOTIKI, this day.

The Hon. E. A. Ransom, Minister of Public Works, is expected to arrive at Opotiki this afternoon from Gieborne, The Minister will travel over the new *»*awai Road between Gisborne and Opotiki and inspect the work of widening now being done by unemployment wlief workers. It is understood Mr. Jwneoin will be accompanied by Mr. K. o- Williams, member for Bay of Plenty. While in Opotiki the Minister will receive deputations concerning various local needs. A strong effort will be jade to induce him to undertake irame**tely the construction of the railway between Taneatua and Opotiki. A complimentary dinner will be tendered Mr. Ransom this evening. He will leave *w Whakatane on Thureday morning, travelling over the proposed route of Mβ railway to Opotiki.
