TE AROHA JOTTINGS.

(Prom Our Own Correspondent ) TE AROHA, Thursday

Ihe most consistent worker on the local tracks is Glenetar, and he is thriving on the tasks allotted him. On Tuesday morning he accounted f or Tea Time over a emart sprint, and finished in a most resolute manner. If present intentions are adhered to, he will be a sUrter ui the Herries Memorial Cup on {Saturday, and, as he stays well, his chance is by no means to be despised. Jimmy Chandler the stable light-weight, handles the Day Comet gelding really well, and will probably liave the mount M. L. Lipsey, who last season had charge of Mr. John Hanks' horses, is now in charge of a Marble Arch fourold gelding owned by Mr. McShaffray. The new owner has already commenced his track duties, and shapes really welL It is the trainer's intention to him ready to race at the Waikato meeting in May. He should succeed in doing so as he has been on hard feed for many months. Queen Arch appears to be all the better for her Matamata and Rotorua racing. On Thursday she bounded alon" the grass track in a very determined manner, and went sufficiently well to euggest that she may take a hand in the settlement of the Herriee Memorial Cup. King Lu is still executing very satisfactory work, and so soon as the tracks are without sting he will be readv to produce form that should again put* him info the winning ranks. That one-time good sprinter Royal Blood made his appearance on the lo'cal track on Thursday morning. He has just come away from a long holiday on his owner's Morrinsville property, and looks big and burly. He is considered quite sound, and is being worked without bandages. His running in the Waihmi Handicap on Saturday will be interesting to many. Another addition to J. H. Wallace's team this week ie a very nicely set up bay gelding by the Wanganui-owned sire. Tonbridge. He has just heen broken in, and from the point of view of racehorse conformation is difficult to fault. He promises to be quite a worthy acquisition to the local strings. On Thursday morning Every Dav with over lOst up, gave a fine jumping exhibition over two rounds of the obstacles. With the pace on he judged magnificently, and he hide fair to be successful in the steeplechase department. r Trainer G. A. Reid now has Crown Arch looking an improved horse, and it should not be long before the Marble Arch gelding runs prominently. If he is fortunate in striking a comparatively small field during the country circuit meednps. he will have n chance to prove hie ability. r Sir Russell is getting into the swing of the local course, and yesterday morning kept Te Koroke right up to his work ' in a sprint of five furlongs. The Archies- j town representative looks very bright and well, and now that he has set tic •! \ -town nicely in his change of location , Iw.iild give evidence of steadv improve 1 ment. " I Thinks and Flitter, owned bv Mr ! ■Tolin Hanks. of Shafteshury." ,i,v| priv.'ilely trained at the owner's home- ! stead. They are both reported to b>! well, and will be competing at the local meeting. Glenidle was not accepted fo. in the Ruakaka Hurdles, but as Hit].- ; flown is held under lease from Mr. j Hanks, he will have an interest in this particular event. Two of the fittest horses on the tracks yesterday morning were In the Shade and Ti Tree. Apparently it was a mutter of leaving well alone, for neither was asked to gallop fast. One of the local horses that may run well at the local fixture is Tea Time especially if the tracks keep dry. Tli;- ! Tea Tray gelding has never l>een sounder while his work, if not brilliant, has been very satisfactory.
