NOTES FROM WAIKATO.

THE RACING AT TE AROHA. LATEST TRACK JOTTINGS. Several of Te Rapa trained horses with engagements at Te Aroha left for the scene to-day. M. J. Carroll's team will go up in the morning. The weather promises fine for the opening day at Te Aroha. The track at this centre will be in great order tomorrow. It is a paspalnm surface, so is not likely to be affected by the dry weather to the extent most other courses would be. Ramblin' Kid won over hurdles at the Auckland summer meeting. The Winterbourne gelding has beeu doing well lately, and he will be in favour at Te Aroha, where McGovcrn, his usual pilot, will ride him. jtfervette's form at Rotorua was disappointing. The Lucullus mare is suffering from seasonal troubles after her racing at Ellerslie, and this has alFected her physically. She will not be a starter at Te Aroha. Gala Day is looking bright for his hurdle racing at Te Aroha. The Quin Abbey gelding has run second on two occasions this season, and appears to go best when he is hunted along. E. Warner is to ride him to-morrow.

Always galloped well in a six furlong effort on the plough at Te Kapa yesterday morning. The Day Comet— Norvena gelding hns frequently failed in races after good work on the tracks, however. In the Hark Cup tomorrow he is in at the minimum, and as he has won at a mile, there may be some prospect for him. Semi Arch and Whakama. two of the local hacks, paid up for at Te Aroha. are not to fulfil tiieir engagements at the meeting. It took Transformer 1.32 to run seven furlongs on the plough at Te Kapa yesterday morning. The Thuriiham gelding is looking the part, and if he strikes out freely to-morrow lie will go close to placing the Ilerries' Memorial Cup to his credit for the second year in succession. As, L. Manson, his most recent pilot, will have the mount on Queen Arch in the same race, another pilot will have to !>e found for Transformer. At the time of writing then' wero indications that P. Brady would secure the mount. Luminary is not keeping his engagement in the Champion Hack Cup. The Day Comet—Thurnline gelding ha* not been shaping up to expectations on the tracks, and the distance, ten furloii"-, is considered too far for him. It possible that he will be raced at seven furlongs on the. second da v . Boomerday is to return to hurdling ut Te Aroha. The veteran son of Quiii Abbey and Bell Crispin went satisfactorily over a round of the hurdle? at Te Rapa yesterday morning. With average luck Boomerday should again have a turn in this division, although the loss of an eye is a deficiency at this game. Mangani was railed to Te Aroha yesterday morning to keep his engagement in the Champion Hack Cup to-morrow. He had a brief let up after the Thames meeting, but if this has not affected him Mangani is likely to l>c in the picture to-morrow with his light weight. King Fame ha? been working at Te Rapa of recent weeks. He looks in good order for hurdle races at Te Aroha, but will require to improve quite a lot to beat the best to appear there at the week-end. Glena Bay has come through his recent racing in good style, as also has Whaka King. Both horses should go well at Te Aroha. Flying Juliet will be ridden by the local apprentice, O. Mclnally, in the main event at Te Aroha to-morrow. The Romeo—Penella mare has developed on more solid lines this season, and she should be up to a bit of weight. She heat Mervette very comfortably in a nine furlong gallop at Te Kapa" yesterday morning. While the time was not fast, Flying Juliet was goin-; very freely. Berinthia is in the condition to make the pace a merry one in the Kuakaka Hurdles to-morrow. Although she, has not been long at the jumping business the Mountain Knight mare has a win over hurdles at Stratford to her credit. A. Jack3on. her trainer, has not hurried her education, and his patience looks like being rewarded. At the time of writing there was a doubt about Valuation keeping his engagement in the Sliaftesbury Handicap to-morrow. This is the Valkyrian gelding in A. Tinker's team who won a division of the maiden race at Thames in Ftyle which stamped him as more than useful. Star Comet has not raced well to the present stage of the season. This member of Phil Brady's team is lookinp more robust now and he -may be found doing better from this out. In the Champion Hack Cup to-morrow he will be ridden by the stable apprentice, P. Brady. Star Comet won this race twelve months back. Archeen strode along nicely in his work on the track yesterday morning His trainer has the Marble Arch gelding very advanced in condition for racing. He has had only a few starts this season but has made good use of them, having won two races. Archette, a maiden in J. F. Tutehcn's team, accompanied Boomerday to Te Aroha. Archette has shown some pace, but he is not very solid as yet. Love Call has been working well at Te Aroha and the Romeo two-year-old

is expected to go well in coming events. Macroom's form at the Rotorua meeting was a little disappointing. The Areliiestown mare has much stronger company to meet at Te Arolia, so she will require to show a let of improvement to havfc a winning chance there. Nothing is known of the condition of Desert Glow. So far as weight is concerned, tho Tβ Awamutu-trained galloper is nicely placed in the Herries Memorial Cup. Unoco will carry the confidence of a good many investors in the races he is to contest at Te Aroha. The Some Boy IT. gelding won at a mile in great style at Rotorua on Monday and he is likely to be a good deal improved by that gallop. * Prince of Orange is in improved order as the outcome of the work he has "ot through on the Te Rapa tracks in the interval since the Takapuna meeting at winch hfc made his latest appearances, ine Valkynan—Lassie Doon three-year-old promises to be ready to race well forward from this out.
