LIMERICK V. AUSSIE.

THE HAZLETT GOLD CUP.

Limerick will make his first public appearance in New Zealand this season >it I Wingatui to-morrow when he will contest the Hazlett Gold Cup, one mile, an event he won last year when known as the Hazlett Memorial Plate. Limerick was taken to Sydney in the spring, but went amiss, and has not started since hie return. However, he showed at Riccarton the other morning that he was back to form again, and he can be expected to be at his best to-morrow. Aussie has proved successful over a mile, winning the King's Plate at Ellerslie the last two years in succession. On the first occasion he ran the distance in 1.38, so that Limerick will not be likely to have matters all his own way. That he in very well at present can be judged by his effort in carrying 10.4 into second place in the Publicans' Handicap, six furlongs, at Dunedin yesterday. The contest is creating great interest all over the Dominion. Limerick can run a great mile, and usually races successfully in his first start after a spell, but Auaeie has had a good deal of racing this season and he will not lack on the score of condition.
