TAUHEI DRAINAGE BOARD.
RECENT COURT DECISION. RATING BASIS AMENDED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) MORRINSVILLE, Wednesday. The position created by the ruling by Mr. Wyvern Wilson. S.M., in the Morrin'sville Court recently that there could not be two classifications in existence at the same time was discussed by the Tauhei Drainage Board at the February meeting. After discussion, the rates previously struck were cancelled, and a resolution was passed striking amended rates on the previous classification. Members considered it might lie unfair to some ratepayers to strike' rates to the same value as on the classifications ruled illegal by the Court. Accordingly it was decided to strike the rate- as low as possible this year and have the whole district reclassified before the next vear's rate< were struck. Various members reported on the drains in their areas, and the h-ast possible amount of expenditure that would be required to keep them in order for the current year In view of the smaller income anticipated, it was deemed necessary to curtail expenditure as much as po-»sil>ie Members were authorised to have the various works reported upon carried out.
