LIMERICK V. AUSSIE

TO MKFT NEXT SATURDAY. A considerable amount of interest is being manifested in the meeting of Limerick and Aussie in the James Hazlett (Jold Plate, a wpight-for-age race run over a mile, which comes up for decision on the second day of the Dimedin Jockey Club's autumn meeting on Saturday next. Aussie's best performance* over a mile were in winning the Kind's Plate at Kllerslie two year- in succession. On the first occasion lie ran the distance in 1.38. carrying U.U. and defeated (rascony, Martarnia. (irand Knight and Lysander, while in heavy going on December 2S last he beat Toxeuma, Prodice and Lysander in 1.42 3-~>. Limerick's ability over a mile is well known, and the fact that he traversed seven furlnngs at Riccarton last Monday morning in 1.28 3-5 indicates that he is in the right condition to run out a solid mile journey. It should he a great match if track conditions are favourable, and the way Aussie has been getting through his work recently at Wingatui suggests that even if he does not beat the champion he will at least put up a great race.
