Since racing at ITie Takapuna meeting Tlmisby has not been required to do any fa.-t work, and most of his tasks have been confined to trotting around the road-. He i.s looking nice and fresh again, although he will not do much racing while the tracks are in their present hard state.

Hoariri was w.rked at a sound pace over .-i.\ furlong* on the tan track, yesterday morning and hit out in good >tyle. He is gradually lining down Into racing condition and" i- well forward, eun-idering the short time he has been in work. War Oflieer. who has not c-hown thp form expected of him during the pn>ent ■-ea.-on, i~ to lie given a chance to make .-'""I as a hurdler. fie wa.- hi> first schooling k—nn over the jumps a few mornings ago, when his <lNplav was quite for a be-inne'r DHT the obstacles. A two-yearold si>tcr to Hoariri. who will race a.-, Wild Country, is making ■rood progress under Owner H. Kama's rare at F.llerslie. This filly was a run over four furlongw on the course proper during the week and shaped promisingly fur a young.-ter that ha> had little experience. Mervette claims a coujile of engagements at the Tt> Aroha meeting "on the opening day. being engaged in tile Herrie> Memorial Cup of one mile and a-quarter. and the Hot Springs Handicap, of one mile. This mare ran unplaced in hoth raco- that she contested at the Kotonia meeting la.~t week, but may .hi better on the bigger track at Tc Aroha. Although Feriiden has not boon paid up for at To Aroha on the opening day, he will contest the F.lstow Handicap, to be run over .-.ix furlongs, on the final day of that meeting. Ferndcn has been doing good work at Ellerslie for several weeks past and F. Stenning has him in tip-tup fettle at the present time. The Australian-bred three-year-old has not done much racing this season, .-till he is a most promising hack and is likely to win further races before the season is concluded. That good filly Hold Money has been having an ea-y time since " she raced .successfully at the Takapuna meeting ami has just been undergoing a course of physic. Her next appearance with the colours up will bo at the Franklin meeting early in March, where t*he will probably contest the open sprint race, (fold Money has an engagement in the (treat Northern Oaks, to be deeded at FJlerslie on March 30, adn the racing at the Franklin meeting should serve to improve her for the ••classic' , event

F. GikhrUt has kept Te Money up tii the mark since she raced at fakapuna, although she has. not boon required to do any particularly fast work since that meeting. This filly has made marked improvement since the spring, and with 7.12 in the Champion Hack (up, to be run at Te Aroha next Saturday, she is likely to give a good' account of herself. Te Money is not big and that will always be against her where huge fields are concerned, still she stays on better than most of the hacks racing at the present time and should continue to pay her way. Sir Moiul registered a good half-mile gallop in company with Jolly Money on the outside of the course proper at Ellerslie yesterday morning. He was finishing on in great style and when they passed the post there was nothing between them, after covering the distance in r>l 2-.")s. It was a good effort, as the trestles were well out from the rails and they did not have much pace on when they jumped off. Sir Mond has run into a place on several occasions lately and it would not surprise to find' him reaching the winning list during the country circuit.
