BURTON—WELCH.

The marriage took place at Dominion Road Methodist Church on Wednesday evening last of Vera daughter of Mrs. F. M. and the late F. J. Welch, of Mount Albert, to Eric Holdsworth Burton, son of Mr. J. and the late Mrs. S. A. Burton, formerly of Papatoetoe. Rev. W. Rowe officiated, and Mr. J. Chappell was at the organ. The church was prettily decorated with Christmas lilies and sweet peas. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her brother-in-law, Mr. D. Lydiard, wore a dainty gown of ivory crepe beaute made on simple lines, with long tight sleeves and full ;*kirt with uneven hem line, draped at the side with a large bow and spray of orange blossom. The finishing touch r o the gown was a row of true lover's knots on bodice and sleeves. The veil, which formed the train, was of silk embroidered tulle, and was held in place by a circlet and ear sprays of orange blossom. A sheaf of Christmas lilies was carried. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Kva Welch, wearing a pretty frock of duchess blue French crepe de chine, and Miss Alma Burton (niece of the bridegroom) wearing pale [)ink silk georgetfe, their headdresses being silver tinsel and leaves. Both carried shower bouquets of colours toning with their frocks. The bridegroom was -upported by Mr. J. Kealy as best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Mount Eden Municipal Kiosk, where Mrs. Welch received her guests wearing silver grey crepe de chine, with Oriental trimming and hat of grey and blue. GARRARD—FORTUNE.

St. Luke's Church, Rotorua, was beautifully decorated with pink rambler i roses, white and pink sweet peas, and St. Joseph lilies, when the marriage of Miss Mary (Molly) Phyllis Fortune, only daughter of Mrs. Fortune, of Kotorua, and the late Mr. H. Fortune, to Mr. Wilson Boziere Garrard, of Rotorua, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Garrard, of Auckland, was solemnised on Wednesday evening, December 19. Archdeacon F. W. Chatterton officiated. The service was fully choral, and Miss M. Mactier presided at the organ. The bride, who was giveu away by her imcle, Mr. C R. Tapper. made a charming picture as she walked up the flower-bedecked aisle wearing a dainty pown of ivory georgette and hand-made point lace, and featuring the uneven hem line. Her Honiton point lace veil was worn with a coronet of orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of pink and white carnations, St. Joseph and arum lilies, and asparagus fern. She was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Lesa Bridger, of Whakatane. and Miss Muriel Cooney,. of Rotorua. The former's frock was peach pink georgette, featuring the uneven hemline, with headdress of tulle to tone and silver; the lattei J s frock was turquoise blue georgette, with uneven hemline and headdress of tulle to tone and silver. Both carried shower bouquets of pink and white carnations, St. Joseph lilies and asparagus fern. Mr. Harold Goodwin, of Auckland, attended the bridegroom as best man, and Mr. Norman Smith as groomsman. • The reception and dance was "held at Prince's Gate the tables being most artistically decorated by Miss Maher with blue delphinium and shaded pink sweet peas. Mrs. Fortune, the bride's mother, wore a midnigbt blue lace ensemble frock with : grey fur collar, and hat to match; she carried a posy of pink and white carnations. Mrs. Garrard, the bridegroom's mother, wore black georgette and Oriental trimming, black satin coat, with ermine stole and black and gold hat. The marriage was solemnised on Tues- I day afternoon, December 11, in the Ct'ahuhu Methodist Church, of Rose, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Merrick, of Mangere, to John Leonard, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Clark, of Otahuhu. The Rev. F. Greenwood performed the ceremony. Mr. A. Trenwith played the wedding music. The bride, who entered the Church on her father's arm. wore a frock of deep cream silk georgette and silver laje, with the orthodox veil and orange blossoms. She carried a very handsome shower bouquet of cream rosebuds to tone, with maidenhair fern and asparagus, softened with ribbons and silk tulle. Her attendant bridesmaids were Miss Dulcie NichoMs, gowned in pale apricot silk georgette, appliqued with chiffon velvet, and Miss Avis Clark, apricot silk georgette of a deeper shade, appliqued with chiffon velvet, and picture hat. Each carried a beautiful shower bouquet to tone. Little June Stor.mont, niece of the bride, made a picturesque flower girl. 'She wore the palest of blue, and carried a posy to uiatcn. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr. Herold Clark, as be-st man, and Mr. Ceiric Rusjwarne as groomsman. After the ceremony about eighty guests were entertained by the brides parents.
