RACING CARNIVAL OPENED AT ELLERSLIE The Auckland Racing Club, usually fortunate in the matter of the weather, had the opening of iU summer carnival to-day marred by rain. On the left is a glimpse along the lawn in front of the grandstands. On the right (top) the finish of the opening race. Hon. T. M. Wilford's Tcheka and Gold Money had a duel in the run home, the former winning by a head. Below, the horses are returning to scale.
