On the Lawn.

Despite the vagaries of weather there is always a good attendance at Ellerslie. Especially on Boxing Day, when, as a rule, the sunshine encourages most charming models to be worn. Although the sun did not pour down its warmth on hosts of flowery chiffons that Are so popular this season, there were plenty of attractive gowns. These were more sombre in tone, and were accompanied by a light waterproof wrap and a chubby umbrella. Jumper suits held their own, especially among the younger people, and for the matron navy blue was very much .in evidence. The dainty flirnslies that make the Christmas races an outstanding scene will have to be put away until the New Year, when, no doubt, the weather will be more inducive to the donning of summer models.
