ELECTRIC CARS.
FOR N.S.W. RAILWAYS. LARGE CONTRACTS LET. (From Our Own Correspondent.) SYDNEY, December 1. The Railway Department yesterday accepted several tenders for large orders for suburban electric motor and trailer car bodies and equipment. The' Clyde Engineering Company has secured a contract for the supply of 40 all-steel suburban motor car bodies at a total cost of £151,800. The Government dockyard at Walsh Island has secured a contract for the supply of 48 all-steel suburban trailer car bodies at a total cost of £186,384. Messrs. Tulloch's Phoenix Iron Works, Ltd., at Rhodes, has secured a contract for 40 electric motor bogles at a total cost of £17,480. Messrs. Ritchie Bros., of Auburn, have ' secured a contract for the supply of 40 ! trailing bogies for motor carriages and ' 96 trailer bogies for trailer cars at a I total cost of £44,057. Conditions are associated with each of ! the orders placed, which will mean that r delivery will start early in 1929, and ■ proceed at a regular rate week by week.
