AUCKLAND WEST.
MR. SAVAGE INCREASES LEAD.
MAJORITY OF 1341
The returning officer for Auckland West (Mr. T. M. Crawford) has announced the result of the official count in his electorate. It shows that Mr. M. J. Savage, the sitting member, and the deputy leader of the Labour party in Parliament, has increased his majority as a result of the counting of the absentee votes, by 197. The figures are as follows; — M. J. Savage (L.) 5361 R. B. Speire (U.) 4020 F. Adeane (G.) 2021 Majority for Savage .... 1341 Absentee votes: Savage 239, Speirs 130, Adeane 119. Seamen's votes: Savage 76, Speire 8, Adeane 1. Postal votes: Savage 94, Speirs 67, Adeane 44.
