GUILTY OF MURDER.
DEATH SENTENCE PASSED.
(Received 11.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. William Wateson Carr was sentenced to death for the murder of Margaret Williams.
On October 28 a murder wag reported to have been perpetrated when Margaret Williams, aged 25, was found dead in a house at Wonthaggi with her throat cut by a razor. The dead woman's sister-in-law said that the deceased and a man had lunch with her. Shortly after she left the room, and later heard screams. On returning she found her sister dead on the floor. The man, who had disappeared, was a boarder in the house. Several days later it was stated that the police had arrested William Carr, after an exhaustive search in the Gippsland bush, and charged him with murder.
