NEW ZEALAND CUP MEETING.

RICCARTON TRACK WORK

THIS MORNING'S DISPLAYS.

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The weather was dull at Riccarton this morning and the track work was not exciting. The inside of the trial grass track was open and a number of horse 3 did useful tasks on it, while others were sent on the sand or the plough, but there was not much of a serious nature. Footfall galloped a mile and a-quarter in 2.21 2-5. He moved freely and pulled up well. Chelone sprinted half-a-mile in 51s, and was quite sound when pulled up. Denier sprinted half-a-mile in 50 4-ss. Rapier was given a working gallop over a mile. Booster beat Banket over live furlongs. The last half-mile was done in 51 l-ss. Teri beat Decoy Bird over six furlongs, taking 52 3-5 for the last half-mile. Silver Paper and Aspiring sprinted down the straight in company. Bright Glow did strong work once round, brushing down the straight. Mandane galloped a mile in 1.48 2-5, the last half-mile taking 525. Laughing Prince covered the same, going in 1.45 1-5, at an even pace throughout. Oratrix and Concentrate moved freely over a mile. Beacon Light worked on the plough and strode out well. Cashier ran half-a-mile in 525, while Consent occupied' 53 2-ss. Black Mint did strong pace work on the plough, wjJiere Pink Note also got through a useful task. Shining Armour did pace work on the sand. Count Cavouf went on the grass, linishing with a sprint down the straight. Hoylake was restricted to exercise in the centre.

Rotor galloped on the sand, going at a sound pace. Crown Area, Moorgas and Desert Lad covered five furlongs in 1.7. Beaumont was sent out to school over the hurdles, but gave an inglorious display. He scrambled over one flight, did no better at his second attempt, and refused to tackle the next hurdle. Beau Geste jumped off in front of Royal Saxon and Solrose. They came home in that order in 1.3 3-5, but Royal Saxon was overhauling the Cup horse at the finish* Gay Sonnet covered the last six of seven furlongs in 1.17, finishing well. Set Sail was given trotting exercise on the sand. One of her jotints was slightly swollen, probably as the result of a knock. Last night's arrivals from the South include Carinthia, Gold Brick, Captivate, Colonel Quex, Royal Tractor, Vaward, Towii Bank, Wreath of Myrtle, Pouqd Note, Celerity 11., and Spean Bridge.
