MINING NEWS.

MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Occidental Una.—The manajor reports that work fur the pa-t week has been confined principally to retimbering the No. T> level, the water coming through having made the ground heavy in this particular place. The reef in the west face is making into a nice compact body of ore. Driving another 00ft on this reef should reach a point under where the Dives Company had their run of gold. Kuranui.—The manager reports that the drive on Barry's reef has been extended 7ft for the week, making a total of 1-Sft from the crosscut. The reef is still in two portions, which seem to be coming together again. The quartz in this facp still looks very promising and shows a fair amount of silica and blend, but so far no values have been seen. Tiki Talisman.—The manager reports that during the week driving has been continued ou thi' crosscut, which is now in 13ft. At thi.<» point a leader *sin thick was cut. and although no goUi wa? seen in the little stone broken out. the indications are very encouraging. Until a further distance of 12ft of driving to the north is completed, it cannot be definitely asserted w.hether this is the leader being sought after. Only a little of the leader has been stripped in previous workings for the week, a» a lot of time is occupied trucking from the different levels. Alburuia.—The mine manager reports that in the Norwegian level approximately 100 ft north of the western crosscut a few trucks of ore were broken over the level. The reef appears to be making in size, it being about 21ft in width. A little of the ore selected shows good coarse blotche.-' of gold : the country rock is of a first-class description, showing numerous mineral seams. Judging by the Improved indications overhead, which are much better than tnoso paesed through in the level, there i that rich values mav he met with as rising or stoplng is carried out. — The m ' np manager re reef h« K hlon !T e toKar< i s the Caledonian makinz 1 «4f? 4 n £ ed 12ft for the continues Mirly firm and favourable
