N«*ional German Rally Of Athletes. "ASHING ON COLOGNE. (United Service.) BERLIN, July 23. Twenty thousand swimmers of both sexes have started to swim from different parts of Germany along the Rivers Rhine, Saar, Neckar and Moselle to Cologne, where a German athletic and gymnastic meeting will be held. One contingent also left Basle, in Switzerland, on Saturday, carrying a casket containing greetings from the committee of the Swiss National Gymnastic Fete at Lucerne. A doctor in a motor-launch is accompanying the swimmers. The distance from Basle to Cologne by river is 250 miles. Twelve tliou«and clubs with a total membership of 2.000,000, including representatives from Germany's lost colonies, will compete in the gymnastic meeting at Cologne. Already 130 special trains have conveyed numerous visitors to the city, hundreds of whom have had to sleep in the open air owing to the lack of accommodation.
