PLOT DISCOVERED.
Plan To Kill King Alfonso Of Spain. CONSPIRATORS ARRESTED. (United Service.) LONDON*. July 23. The Toulouse correspondent of the "Daily Mail" reports that a Spaniard and three Frenchmen were arrested on the Franco-Spanish frontier after the discovery of a widespread plot to assassinate King Alfonso when, with the President of France. M. Doumergue. he inaugurates the new Pyrenees tunnel connecting the French and Spanish railways. The two suspects arrested are said to have been in possession of secret instructions from the Spanish Anarchist Committee at Barcelona, ordering them to prepare their comrades and fit them out for an imminent expedition. The documents said the conspirators would find the arms at a point indicated across the frontier. The arrested men have been imprisoned in the ancient fortified city of Carcassonne, which M. Doumergue visited on Sunday in connection with the celebration of its 2000 th anniversary. The plot is believed to be connected with outbreaks of vast forest fires inside the French frontier, which, it is thought, were intended to be used as a screen.
