REP. TEAM PICKED. SIDE TO GO SOUTH. MR. MEREDITH'S FINAL SELECTION TWENTY-THREE PLAYERS. Twenty-three players will make tie Southern tour, according to the final selection of Mr. V. R. Meredith. g o [ a selector for the Auckland Rugby Uaioa. The players chosen are: — Backs: Paewai (Grafton), Butler (Training College), R. Hook (Ponsonbvt L. Hook (Ponsonby ~ Minns (University), Falwasser (Manukau), Jenkin (University), .Jeffries (Marist), Carter (University), Barclay (South Auckland). Forwards: Keene < University), Palmer (Ponsonby), Finlayson "(Grafton) Wanoa (Grafton;, Knight (Grammar* Old Boys), Batty (Grammar Old Boys) Cathcart (Grammar Old Boys), Anderson (University), Fell (Citvj, (City), Kahu (Manukau).." Donaldson (Grafton), Strange (Thames). Of the players selected, 14 were definitely chosen and announced on .Juna 23. Training will commence at North Shore to-morrow night. It is not yet certain whether Barclay and Strange will be able to make the trip. M. Hay ward (Thames) wa 4 selected, but was unable to make tie trip. Three of the partv, Cathcart, Anderson and Wanoa, will return to Auckland after the Canterbury match. The team will play the "following matches:— August I.—Wairarapa. at Masterton. August 4.—Canterbury, at Christen or ch. August B.—South Canterbury at Timaru. August 11.—Otago, at Dunedin. August 15.—Southland, at Invercarcrfll, August 18.—Wellington., at Welling The Wellington game will be played on the same date as the inter-island fixture at Christchurch, and in the event of many Aucklanders being chosen for the 2>>orth Island team it may be necessary to send players from Auckland to fill any vacancies for the game against Wellington. ° WHANGAREI REPS.
