RUGBY FOOTBALL.
THAMES VALLEY UNION. P AERO A, this day. The executive of (he Thames Valley Rugby Union have fixed the following dates for the second round of the Frank Poland Memorial Cup contest: — August 4: Waihi v. Piako, at Te Aroha; Plains v. Paeroa, at Pacroa. August IS: Paeroa v. Waihi, at Waihi; Piako v. Plains, at Ngatea. September 1: Plains v. Waihi. at Waihi; Paeroa v. Piako, at Te Aroha. On September 8 it is proposed to hold an A and B match at Paeroa between nlavers selected from the four Thames Valley Sub-unions. The selectors will then make the final selection of the Thames Valley team to travel to Auckland on September 15 and to Hamilton on September 22.
HAURAKI PLAINS SCHOOLS,
NGATEA, this day. A meeting of Hauraki Plains school teachers unanimously decided to form a Hauraki Plains Primary Schools' Rugby Union. Mr. Claude Abel explained that affiliation with the Thames Valley Rugby Union would enable Plains school teams to compete for the Fleming Shield and for selection in the team to plav for the Northern Roller Mills Shield. Mr. W. Chappell (Ngatea) was appointed oresident. and Mr. G. Bos well (Kerepeehi), vice-president. Other officers appointed were: Secretary, Mr. A. J. Simpson (Ngateal; selectors, one teacher from each school. It was decided to postpone affiliation with the Thames Valley Union until next season.
